Trauma-Informed Counseling with Amanda
Healing Is Possible—You Don't Have to Navigate It Alone
Trauma leaves deep scars, often making you feel disconnected, overwhelmed, and unsure of how to heal. Whether it’s from past abuse, a life-altering event, or years of suppressed emotions, trauma can take many forms, and its effects can ripple through every area of your life. The good news is: You don’t have to carry this burden alone, and healing is possible.
I specialize in trauma-informed counseling that is grounded in empathy, safety, and compassion. Together, we can begin to process the pain, understand its impact, and work towards reclaiming the peace and emotional freedom you deserve.
About Working with Amanda
Hi, I’m Amanda. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A), a National Certified Counselor (NCC), and a Certified Trauma Professional. My academic journey started at Eastern New Mexico University, where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Religious Studies with a minor in Sociology/Psychology. After earning my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Webster University, I devoted my career to helping individuals and couples heal from trauma and live more fulfilling, connected lives.
Beyond my credentials, I bring my own personal experience as a military spouse and mother of three girls into my counseling approach. I understand the deep emotional toll trauma can take on both the individual and their relationships. I also know the courage it takes to confront these challenges and step into the healing process.
In my practice, I create a safe, non-judgmental space where you are free to process your emotions at your own pace. I believe trauma doesn't define you—it's simply part of your story, but not your identity. Together, we’ll explore how your past has shaped your present and work towards a future where you can feel whole again.
My Approach to Healing
I am deeply passionate about trauma-informed care because I know from both my professional training and personal experience that trauma can be transformative. Healing is not only about moving past the pain but learning how to embrace and integrate your experiences into a healthier, more fulfilling life.
As someone who has worked with women facing chronic illnesses and hormonal imbalances, I understand the connection between emotional and physical health. That’s why I take a holistic approach, considering how trauma may be affecting both your mental and physical well-being. By understanding the whole person—mind, body, and spirit—we can create a tailored plan that supports long-term healing.
What Trauma-Informed Counseling Looks Like
Trauma doesn’t just affect the mind—it impacts your body, your emotions, and your relationships. I use a trauma-informed approach, meaning every step we take will honor your journey, pace, and emotional safety. The counseling space we create together will be one of trust, compassion, and empowerment. Here’s what you can expect:
A Safe, Empathetic Space: Trauma often leaves you feeling isolated or misunderstood. In our sessions, you will never feel judged or rushed. I’ll meet you where you’re at, offering validation and understanding as you work through the challenges you face.
Gentle Guidance: There’s no "right" way to heal, and healing doesn’t always happen in a straight line. I provide gentle, consistent guidance to help you navigate the complex emotions that come with trauma recovery. My goal is to help you feel supported, empowered, and in control of your healing journey.
Trauma-Sensitive Tools: Healing from trauma involves learning how to process and manage the emotional and physical impact it has had on you. I’ll work with you to explore and integrate trauma-sensitive techniques like mindfulness, grounding exercises, and emotional regulation skills that are tailored to your unique needs.
Understanding Your Story: Your trauma history is a part of you, but it doesn’t have to define your future. Together, we’ll explore how your past experiences have shaped the way you interact with the world and your relationships. This awareness can help you make sense of your present-day struggles and move towards emotional freedom.
Body-Mind Connection: Trauma often manifests in the body as tension, pain, or other physical symptoms. I take an integrative approach, recognizing that mind and body are deeply connected. We’ll work together to release some of the physical tension that may have accumulated as a result of your trauma.
Hope for the Future: Healing from trauma is a process, but it is absolutely possible. My goal is to help you rediscover hope and build a future that feels secure, balanced, and full of possibility.
Why work with Amanda?
Empathy & Compassion: I genuinely care about the healing process and believe in your ability to heal, no matter how impossible it might feel right now. I’m here to listen, to support, and to walk alongside you as you work through your pain.
Trauma Expertise: With a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and certification as a Certified Trauma Professional, I specialize in trauma recovery and provide the expert guidance needed to heal from difficult life experiences.
A Non-Judgmental Space: I know how isolating it can feel to experience trauma, which is why I create a compassionate, non-judgmental space for you to share, heal, and grow. There is no pressure, no rush—just a safe place to start where you are.
Holistic Healing: My background in functional medicine means I take a holistic approach to therapy, integrating emotional, mental, and physical well-being. Together, we’ll explore how trauma may show up in your body, mind, and relationships.
Realistic Hope: Healing takes time, and sometimes it feels like there’s no way forward. But I promise you—there is hope. Together, we’ll move at a pace that honors your emotional safety and progress, while keeping your long-term healing goals in mind.
